so here i am.
24 years old. living in the "BIG city," full of some new, missing more than a few - still, i can't break from preaching to those outside my ring.
i actually had the gall to tell my friend he was a 'fraidy-cat.'
sickening.
i've not punched many faces in my life but if had an out-of-body-vantage i'd offer a swift (taylor i love you) closed-fisted slap to the; this...face-saving face.
sitting here, basking in a self-proclaimed risk-run...realistically nothing more than a silly voyeurism, i stumble upon a blog about a guy from san francisco with ankylosing spondylitis who made a few greenbacks with a tech start-up and decided to sail the world in 1999...(his blog: http://www.condesa.org/about/)
Anklosing Spondylitis is a degenerative condition affecting the spine which commonly, inevitably leads to inflammation of the spine and sacrum AND eventual immobility...oh right, the inflammation can also lead to kidneys, lungs, heart and eyes....death.
THIS guy. THIS guy is living right? Right. He made a decision. Let life live him or live like his time would be up in no time. For him the two are synonymous but my boldness tells me we'll all feel no different when our time is up...before we had a chance to know it. to live a little. unfold and learn the box; and on those days, nights and weekends in question, teetering on the border of reason, jump and just be. learn and unlearn.
sure, everyone has an individual, though learned, threshold for pleasure, pain and all that drives us from out to in...sane. can not the learned be unlearned? 'course it can!
it's not a radical view, an alternative lifestyle. it's commonplace for some and falls just outside a strict realm/circle-of-life for others. why? because some choose to deck themselves in camouflage...dress their comfort in a brimming cloak of cheek to cheek. well, sorry to say but life ain't a sqaure dance and fred astaire (or ginger rogers) ain't holding your hand.
some let you hear happiness is a choice, but believing in progress not made is whimsical. it is belief in the ability to make progress which when tying a lace in the cold, keeps us sane.
